The article examines the domestic wool market in the context of production, import and export indicators, the peculiarities of the location of wool production, the distribution of production volumes between different categories of farms. Describes the safety of the State second support and the production of wool. It is emphasized that in order to implement effective measures for the development of the wool market in Russia, it is necessary to improve the system for collecting data on wool production and create a network of laboratories for assessing the quality of wool. The presented data on the development of the wool market in Russia cover the period from 2015 to 2016.
