Plastic problems in Israel

Under pressure from the stakeholders of the eco-test in November 2021, a tax on disposable plastic tableware was introduced in Israel: 13 shek. / kg (about $ 4). As a result, according to the Central Bank of Israel, over the year retailers raised the price of plastic to 22 shek. / kg, which exceeded the target level by 70%. Local experts believe that this indicates the absence of real competition in Israel.
