China - control over the import of exotic animals

China will strengthen its capabilities in the prevention and control of invasive alien species to preserve the development of agriculture and biodiversity. The country faces numerous risks of invasive alien species due to its long land border, foreign exchanges, illegal introduction and breeding of exotic pets, as well as illegal release of animals. At the moment, the PRC has included 59 invasive alien species in the list requiring enhanced control. China will strengthen quarantine control of imported goods, vehicles, shipments and deliveries, as well as cross-border electronic commerce to stop the arrival of invasive alien species. Efforts will also be made to optimize the monitoring network and develop targeted prevention and control measures against specific invasive alien species - The Ministry of Agriculture of China
