PREPARED FORWARD. THE LEATHER INDUSTRY TAKES A PAUSE

Manufacture of leather and leather products. Leather and leather goods production index (includes suitcases, handbags, shoes) paired April 2021/2020 amounted to 171.7%.

The shipment of all leather products in April increased by 91.8% versus April 2020, but decreased by 4.5% versus March 2021. The total April shipment amounted to 7.3 billion rubles.

In total, in April 2021, skin from whole cattle skins (without hair) in Russia was produced 136 against 144 million sq. decameter in March. Leather from whole hides - 32.3 against 42.9 sq. dm.

In dynamics, by April 2020, the leather production industry has sharply increased: + 89.4% growth for whole skins, + 13.5% for non-whole skins. However, after the March rocket, the industry (by March 2021) began to decline in April: -7.3% and -21.6% for the types of skins (-14.5% on average).

Paired January-April 2021/2020 leather came out in positive territory: + 12.5%. @agrorisk
