The article examines the state of the onion market and the dynamics of its development in the Russian Federation. The sowing area of ​​onion and the dynamics of change in the sown area by region are considered and the reasons for the decline in the market price for onion are analyzed. The analysis of the structure of the gross harvest of onions by categories of farms is given.
